Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (SOSJ)

The Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart is a Congregation of Religious Women founded in 1866 in Penola, South Australia by Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Father Julian Tenison Woods.

The Sisters have been in Tasmania since their arrival in 1887 when they established the first Josephite school in Westbury.  Since then, they have ministered in 25 schools and numerous parishes across Tasmania.  Sisters of St Joseph continue to live at Cygnet, Westbury, Launceston and Hobart within their Victoria-Tasmania Region.
