Archives & Heritage Collection

The Archives and Heritage Collection seeks to preserve the collective memory of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.  A wide-ranging collection of written and pictorial material, as well as memorabilia and artefacts, this rich collection spans nearly two centuries.

Both academic and genealogical research requests are welcomed.  Initial inquiries to the Archivist should be arranged prior to any visit.  A fee applies for all genealogical searches, with monies received assisting conservation work on fragile registers.

The museum collection that was available to the public when housed at Mt St Canice is currently in storage, awaiting the development of a suitable display space.

The Archivist is available to view items that may be suitable for transfer into the Archives.  Parish personnel are urged to lodge old sacramental registers with the Archives and Heritage Collection.
