Saints brought to life at annual event

To celebrate the Feast of All Saints, the annual ‘Saints Alive’ dress up was held by the Queen of Angels Latin Mass Community in New Town on Sunday 5 November.
Having run for several years, all are invited to dress up as a specific saint and tell the story of their life, while a community lunch is enjoyed by all.
This year’s line-up of saints included Margaret Clitherow, Brendan the Navigator, Maximilian Kolbe, Stephen the Deacon, Dominica of Campania, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady Queen of Angels, and a baby Rose of Lima.
Clare Smith, whose children took part in the festivities, said the annual ‘Saints Alive’ event was something special that they always look forward to.
“It’s good particularly for the kids because it gives them an opportunity prior to the event to spend some time learning about the saint, and then share what they’ve learnt.
“And it becomes that foundation for when they grow up – they might remember elements of the stories of the saints which become sort of real to them at different stages of life.
“It’s a celebratory atmosphere – the kids always really look forward to it,” she said.
