Professional Standards is the Australian Catholic Church protocol to advise and assist in matters concerning Church-related abuse. It appoints suitable people as contact persons, support persons, assessors and facilitators.
The Tasmanian Office of Professional Standards responds pastorally to survivors of abuse and manages the process.

Vos Estis Lux Mundi
In 2019, Pope Francis established a new procedure, Vos estis lux mundi (‘You are the light of the world’), to combat sexual abuse and to ensure that bishops and religious superiors are held accountable for their actions.
The procedure is designed to facilitate reports from clergy, religious and lay Church personnel in regards to crimes of sexual abuse committed by clergy and religious, and the concealing of crimes of sexual abuse by Bishops and their equivalents.
Towards Healing was established in 1996 by the National Committee for Professional Standards and is the procedure of the Australian Catholic Church in relation to sexual, emotional and physical abuse. It does not attempt to replace the other options available to an individual, such as reporting a matter to police, working through a lawyer, or lodging an application with the National Redress Scheme.
