If you have concerns for the immediate safety of a child or adult call 000.

If you or someone you know has experienced abuse, we are committed to providing support and assistance. The Archdiocese of Hobart has a dedicated process for reporting allegations of abuse.

These forms are available to report any concerns regarding abuse, the well-being of a child or adult, or any safeguarding incidents within the Archdiocese of Hobart.

All concerns, allegations or complaints will be treated with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity. Each matter will be addressed in accordance with the Archdiocesan Privacy Policy, as well as our ethical, moral and legal obligations.

It is a legal requirement for Mandated Reporters (Children and Community Services Act 2004) who form a belief on reasonable grounds, to report child sexual abuse to the Department of Communities’ Mandatory Reporting Service.

The Reportable Conduct Scheme was introduced on 1 January 2024 by the Tasmanian Government to support the creation of a culture where organisations that engage with children and young people investigate concerns about their wellbeing in a thorough, transparent, safe, and child-centred way. The Reportable Conduct Scheme does this by requiring leaders of specific organisations to:

  • Report concerns of conduct related to child abuse involving a worker (including volunteer) in their organisations to the Independent Regulator: and
  • It puts responsibilities on the Archdiocese of Hobart’s Professional Standards Office
  • It’s overseen by an Independent Regulator.
  • In most cases, the Professional Standards Director will investigate the conduct. But the Independent Regulator will be able to provide support and/or an external investigator may be used.

The Reportable Conduct Scheme is primarily focused on ensuring that reportable conduct is investigated properly. Reporting conduct does not automatically mean that an investigation must reach a certain outcome.
