Singing the praises of sesquicentenary church

A week of celebrations will mark the sesquicentenary of St Augustine’s Catholic Church at Longford in November.

A reunion day for past priests, nuns and parishioners will take place on Monday, November 6, with Mass at 11am followed by lunch at the Country Club Hotel, Longford.

From Wednesday, November 8 to Friday, November 10, the church and parish house will be open from 11am to 2pm. Memorabilia, including historic photos, will be on display.

Archbishop Julian will celebrate Mass at 11am on Sunday, November 12, with lunch to follow in the parish house.

One of the organisers, parishioner Denise Talbot, of Perth, said plans were well advanced for the historic milestone.

“We are hoping that as many people as possible with links to the parish will come back for the celebration and we urge everyone to RSVP as soon as possible,” Mrs Talbot said.

For details or to RSVP before October 20, please email Barb Baker at or call 0408 911 491. Denise Talbot can be contacted on 0419 370 646.
