Seminarians Support Dinner 2017

The Seminarians’ Support Dinner 2017 is being held on 23 August in Hobart.

This important event raises much-needed funds in support of the formation of our future priests. The Archdiocese of Hobart has the primary responsibility for meeting the costs associated with the training, development and education of its seminarian students, in preparation for entering the priesthood.

The Seminarians Support Dinner will assist to meet some of the major financial needs of our seminarians incurred because of their study at a regional seminary in Victoria, and overseas. Expenses include travel, board, a small monthly allowance, and medical insurance.

Chathura Ranmuni Silva, Vinco Muriyadan, Jesse Banez, Fidelis Udousoro and Steven Smith are currently studying in Victoria, while Ben Brooks is undertaking his studies at Bader College in Rome. Mr Udousoro was recently ordained a Deacon, and the remaining seminarians are newly instituted acolytes.

The Seminarians’ Support Dinner 2017 is an opportunity to gather as a single community of faith to enjoy each other’s company, and support our seminarians. This year, the Dinner is being held at Guilford Young College (GYC) Hobart Campus, at a cost of only $50.00 per head, which includes a complimentary drink and canapés on arrival, entertainment, and a four-course meal prepared and served by GYC Hospitality VET students. Drinks will be available at cost from the bar during the night. Previous Seminarians’ Support Dinners have raised more than $25,000.

Come along and enjoy a fun-filled evening! Contact your parish or organisation coordinating member to secure your tickets before 11 August. Be quick: there are only 250 tickets available, and they are sure to sell out quickly.
