Fr Shammi receives Prayer Boxes

Cathedral Parish Administrator and Calvary Hospital Chaplain, Fr Shammi Perera recently received two new prayer boxes to use in the chapels at Calvary’s Lenah Valley and South Hobart campuses.

Queenslander Lester Bock carved the two boxes from Jelutong timber, and both boxes are beautifully inlayed with the Calvary Hospital Heart design. The boxes will be used to receive the requests for prayers of patients and family members.

Since the foundation of Calvary Hospital by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, there has always been a tradition of praying for those who are sick or dying. This tradition was very close to the heart of Venerable Mary Potter and the prayer boxes dignify the quiet and faithful devotion of the sisters; a devotion continued today by staff and volunteers at Calvary Hospital.
