Archbishop Porteous is determined to connect with every part of the Church in Tasmania and he’s making a great effort to meet as many people as possible whenever he can.
On Friday April 4, the Archbishop visited four different sites across Launceston. In the morning he blessed the fabulous refurbishment of classrooms at Sacred Heart Catholic School in central Launceston, then met the cohort of knowledgeable youngsters at St Thomas More’s Catholic School in Newstead.
His Grace spent the afternoon meeting key staff and viewing the facilities at the two Calvary campuses, St Vincent’s and St Luke’s. While he was there, he also spent some time with patients.
On Sunday April 6, the Archbishop administered the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist to twelve children at Masses at St Therese’s Moonah. It was his first official visit to the Moonah-Lutana Parish and he was made most welcome by the parishioners.
This coming week, among his regular round of meetings, Masses, office work and such, a highlight is sure to be a visit to meet students at St John’s Catholic School in Richmond.
