Archbishop Julian’s new book New Evangelisation: Pastoral Strategy for the Church at the Beginning of the Third Millennium, was launched in Hobart last night, at the St Mary’s Cathedral Centre.
The book was launched by Archbishop Christopher Prowse, from the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, via Skype. Archbishop Prowse congratulated his ‘Brother Bishop Julian’ on the successful launch of the book, saying he was looking forward to Archbishop Julian’s next instalment.
Archbishop Julian’s latest work brings together his developing understanding of what evangelisation entails.
“I have written this book as a certain distillation of my experience over more than forty years. It describes the essence of the new message of the New Evangelisation and offers some ways in which the New Evangelisation can be expressed.
“The New Evangelisation has been at the heart of my priesthood. It has been a fire that has been burning within me since 1972 when I was still a seminarian and found its expression in my early ministry as a priest. This fire still burns in my heart with a freshness as if it has just begun.”
Archbishop Julian was joined at the launch by more than 50 guests including parishioners, parish priests, and representatives of the Archdiocese of Hobart and Tasmanian Catholicare agencies.
