About the Verbum Domini Biblical and Catechetical Institute
Named after the most recent Church document on Scripture, the Verbum Domini Biblical and Catechetical Institute of the Archdiocese of Hobart aims at forming missionary disciples to contribute to the life of the Church within society. Under the Patronage of St Ambrose of Milan, the Institute offers Scripture Courses to enable the Catholic faithful to become more biblically literate. The Institute also offers a series of Faith and Ministry of the Word Certificates aimed at taking participants deeper into their life with Christ and understanding of their Christian faith. The Introduction to the New Testament course consists of eight modules covering an Introduction to Biblical Interpretation, the Synoptic Gospels, John’s Gospel, St Paul’s letters to the Romans and Corinthians, Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles, and the book of Revelation. The modules will be run throughout 2016 at two centres: Hobart and Launceston. Everyone is invited to enrol – those who are already catechists in parishes, trainee catechists, religious educators, and those simply desiring ongoing formation. Non-certificate students are welcome to attend individual modules. Sign up now!
