Who is God?

God is the First and the Last, the beginning and the end of everything (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 198). God is three Persons in one Being. The three Persons of God are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Because of this we call God the Holy Trinity. God freely created the heavens and the earth out his immense love and wisdom. God saves humankind from evil and blesses us with good things, as Sacred Scripture says, “Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17).
