Parish Pastoral Councils are councils of the whole church, where members come together to give leadership to the parish as it discerns its call to live the mission of the church in these times in this community.
Their purpose is to assist the Church’s apostolic work –
- In the field of making the Gospel known, and
- In charitable, social and other spheres. (Vatican II Document on the Laity #26)
The role of Parish Pastoral Council’s is to –
- Promote the Church’s mission to live and communicate the love and values of Christ in the world.
- Share in the responsibility for the life and development of the parish community, collaborating with parishioners to provide support for their efforts to live as followers of Christ.
