Fr Terry Rush was born in Townsville Queensland in 1947. He was the first of six children of John and Bernadette Rush. He was educated by the Good Samaritan Sisters at St Margaret Mary’s, and then by the Christian Brothers at St John Fishers and Our Ladys Mount. After Seminary studies at Pius XII Seminary, Banyo Queensland, he was ordained on 6th August 1971 in Townsville.
In 1974 he moved to the Archdiocese of Hobart and was appointed to the Church of Apostles Launceston. After appointments as Parish Priest of Scottsdale and Kingston he was appointed Administrator of St Mary’s Cathedral Hobart. After 10 years he was appointed Chancellor of the Archdiocese and moved as Parish Priest to Richmond. He presently serves on the Council of Priests and is a Consultor to the Archbishop. He has served as an Army Reserve Force Chaplain since 1977.
